Recorded in 2010 and previously unreleased, ‘This Has No Longer Been the Future’ is in some ways a companion piece to Scrivin's 2007 album ‘Tomorrow’s World’, returning once more to the sounds and themes of the 1980s.

Opening with ‘Back in 1980’ and its chanted vocal mantra ("disco, Bowie clones, Blitz kids"), the six tracks progress through celebrations of Brutalist architecture (‘Science of the Concrete’) and a delicate synthetic ode to a childhood summer’s day at ‘Jodrell Bank’ before heading into darker territory with evocations of the Chernobyl disaster (Roentgens) and Cold War spy communications (Secretive Sequentials).

Reviews

"... clattering Boards of Canada beats and woozy synths conjure fuzzy memories of both concrete new towns and summery day trips to Jodrell Bank. Opening track 'Back in 1980' manages to be both wistful and joyous, its chanted mantra of "Disco/Bowie clones/Blitz kids" sitting atop a pulsating Frankie Goes to Hollywood bassline. Although the menacing, head-pounding 'Roentgens' (named, as viewers of 'Chernobyl' will testify, after units of radiation exposure) hints at a more sinister side to the decade." Bob Fischer - Electronic Sound

"On This Has No Longer Been The Future, tracks such as “Tape Control Centre” fuse new wave urgency with electronic precision, landing somewhere between Devo and Doris Norton." Spenser Tomson - The Wire
